Festival season!

I don’t often post photos of people on here, but just look at how cute my friends are. These are from a festival-themed party we threw last month, hence all the UV face paint. I’ve been in something of a photo lull recently, but I’m off to Gdansk this weekend so I’m sure I’ll come back with a few shots.

Take heed of the stormy weather

I’ve been feeling quite folky recently. I’m generally always in the mood for Bob Dylan, but he seems to be it for me right now.

Oh, but if I had the stars from the darkest night
And the diamonds from the deepest ocean
I’d forsake them all for your sweet kiss
For that’s all I’m wishin’ to be ownin’.

Remember Edie? Well, she’s through to the final of Live and Unsigned! Not that it’s a surprise as she’s a brilliant songwriter, singer and guitarist. And she’s the most beautiful girl you’ll ever meet. AND she’s super sweet and smart, to boot. Enough fawning from me, you get the idea. She’s awesome. Catch her at the Live and Unsigned Festival at the IndigO2 on July 10th!

On the Quayside market, there was an amazing mirror stall.

I was nursing a sore head and stiff body when I wandered around the centre of Newcastle. I self-medicated with some chips with brown sauce and a slice of caramel shortbread (see above) and soon felt better.

Newcastle is a very pretty city. The layout of it is easy on the eye – roads wind up and down, interweaving with arches and other curved structures. There are plenty of quirks to it. Geordies are also very friendly. I took a taxi the night I got there and learned an impressive amount about the talkative driver’s life in the mere ten minutes I spent in his car. I felt bad for being such a cynical Londoner, wondering what these lovely people really wanted from me. It was a refreshing experience and I’d definitely like to go back when I have more time to soak it in.

I guess I should post in chronological order the events of the past few days. It’s been so hectic! I’ll start with last Thursday, when Marietta and I gigged at Citizen Smith in Putney.

It was quite chilly singing in front of a giant open window frame, hence the coats. We looked a bit like singing detectives.

This week I am refusing to make plans because I am completely worn out. I have more than enough photos to put up here, including from my birthday and a whirlwind trip to Newcastle. Really liked Newcastle. I’m also still mulling over the idea of a jewellery post. We shall see!

Tonight the subject of Halloween 2007 came up so I decided to dig out these old photos. I have no idea what I was meant to be dressed as (cat whiskers + ears + pink wig??), but the photo of me playing an accordion we found(!) next to who appears to be Slash is hilarious! Go have a look through your old photos and see what gems you stumble upon! Here, for example, is my friend Adrian dressed as a tomato:

We’re considering dressing Adrian as Pikachu this year!

I’m really meant to have left for my Indonesian class, so here are a few shots from the past few days.

Yet another talented friend! I played guitar for my friend Marietta’s gig during the week. As always, it was a pleasure (note: the unintentional matching outfits). Marietta has been singing for as long as I’ve known her (10+ years) and is also a skilled songwriter. Check out her Myspace page.
