We two should be like a couple of hot tomatoes

I decided to give this blog a break from the barrage of Kenya photos and share instead some shots from my epic walk home the other day to Camden from London Bridge. It was such a nice evening and the prospect of sitting on a hot and sweaty bus or tube did not appeal. I stumbled across lots of sequins scattered across the cobbles and a beautiful sunset. Not a bad way to end an evening. It’s funny how your mood can change the way you look at things or, in this case, photograph things. I was in such a good mood when I took these and as a result they turned out quite…optimistic and romantic. I should try when I’m in a bad mood and observe the difference.

Chocolate cupcakes with white chocolate chips

My friend Tara came round again yesterday for more baking (+ air punching to Magic FM + watching Hercules on DVD). I like how these cupcakes turned out. Just your standard cupcake recipe with plenty of cocoa powder and some white chocolate chips thrown in.

I need to stop buying cupcake cases.

Note the Harry Potter lightning bolt, noughts and crosses and x_x cupcakes.

My x_x face brings all the boys to the yarrrd, and they’re like, baking is harrrd.

Also, a few shots from a confectionery shop in China Town! Seeing as we’re on the subject of sweet things.

My eyes widen whenever I walk into any of the Asian food shops in London. They’re always so cute and enticing. I’m easily tempted by cute packaging. Just the other day I was in a Japanese food shop on Brewer Street and came out with koala-shaped biscuits in a colourful, patterned box. Needless to say, I hadn’t even thought about them again until now. I don’t know if I even have the heart to eat biscuits shaped like koalas. If you want to sell something, put it in a cute box.

We run, we run

My beautiful friend Edie and I met up in Leicester Square today and decided to fulfil our tradition of gorging ourselves on dim sum whenever we’re in London together. We were so stuffed after our meal that we had to walk it off for a couple of hours. I had such a fun day and the perfect end to a tiring week.

Edie is a brilliantly talented singer and songwriter. Sensing a trend amongst my friends? Creative dynamos, the lot of them. You can find Edie on Facebook here. Check her out!

My new fish eye lens was so quick to arrive, I figured I had to take it out to play.

These aren’t brilliant but I guess the possibilities and limitations of fish eye will take some getting used to. Can’t wait to use it to snap Istanbul!

2009 in photos.

Guadalajara, Guadalajaraaaaaaa!

I’m working through the backlog of interesting 2009 experiences, and I’ve reached Mexico. I loved my two weeks in Mexico and it’s my goal to get myself there again next year. The food, the heat, the music, the beer. I never used to like beer but now there’s little better for me than a good, light beer with a slice of lime. Gorgeous.

I need to get back in the habit of taking my camera everywhere with me. It’s just so cold and I don’t fancy freezing my fingers off in the wind and the rain. Clearly gloves are the answer!

Maroc

Some old photos from a trip to Morocco in March!
